The US Army public affairs theme published a great article on movies increasing appreciation for service members in Hollywood. The article talks about how movies like the Hurt Locker and the Messenger and have actually changed the perception of service members amongst both the stars and the crew. To get the rest of the article and learn about what The Messenger’s Woody Harrelson had to say follow the link: http://www.army.mil/-news/2010/02/18/34602-military-themed-films-increase-appreciation-for-servicemembers-in-hollywood/
It is no surprise that stars that spend time learning about the military change their perceptions and become much more invested in supporting service members. Through main stream media as a vehicle into the lives of troops and their families, audiences get a reminder of why it is so essential to be supporting and appreciating the military. When the entertainment world showcases the military either through music, movies, or television the audiences on the other end get a little bit closer to military community which is always good news.
